Switch recently installed a compact hybrid solar and battery system at a picturesque home overlooking Lami Bay. The setup features a 5 kW inverter paired with a 10 kWh battery, designed to provide clean, stable power in an area notorious for poor grid quality and regular voltage/frequency fluctuations.
The homeowners were experiencing frequent damage to appliances and inconsistent supply. Since installing the system, they’ve reported a dramatic improvement in stability — “we barely notice the fluctuations now”. Lights no longer flicker, devices run reliably, and sensitive equipment is protected from spikes and sags.
Beyond energy reliability, the battery setup also adds thermal insulation to the equipment area — a small but welcome bonus in Fiji’s humid conditions.
This installation reflects how even small-scale systems can bring major lifestyle improvements when smartly designed and tailored to local conditions.
